NDC in Newbury

The change in direction by the Newbury Diesel Company in terms of marine engineering started in 1964 when FT Everard & Sons Ltd asked for a bridge control system  for the Sirron engines fitted in their ships. A GA Mkll engine was successfully fitted and after testing the engine was placed in the tug EA Everard. Subsequently, further designs were produced and it was realised that this was the future for the company.  The change from manufacturing large two stroke engines to four stroke non reversing was a step too far. The new T type engine was  successful but the Newbury Diesel Company would need considerable investment in expensive new plant in order to keep abreast  of modern oil engine design and manufacture. In 1981 then Newbury Diesel Controls Ltd as it was then named, moved to a new premises to pursue the more sophisticated side of marine engineering. Finally in 1987 the business was sold to Radmec.

Radamec Ltd is a successful company, still operating in Newbury Berkshire.
They continue to design and manufacture Marine control systems
and refer to their parentage from NDC on their web site.
